My Family History.

Welcome to my family history website.
This site is mainly about my father’s family, the Corbett, Chance, De Peyster and Dracopoli families. My grandmother was a Dracopoli and her mother was Katharine Navarre Chance and her mother was Cornelia De Peyster-Chance. I know relatively little about the Corbetts (at present) but the Chance family are well documented as are the De Peysters in the USA.
My great-grandfather was Nicholas Dracopoli and his ancestors although originally from Genoa lived in the Greek enclave at Smyrna and on the island of Chios.
If anyone out there knows any more about my family and would like to get in touch, please do. I am interested in acquiring any artefacts, such as signed books, (anything signed by John Dracopoli), or information about my family.
About Me
About 10 years have passed since the original website was created, so it might be said that this photo is a bit out of date, but I like to think that I am pretty much the same! The main difference in this website is the inclusion of furniture photos. Most of which pre-date my interest in family history. I am still able to take on furniture commissions for anyone who is interested.
Family Connections
Most people who delve deeply enough find that they have interesting family histories. The histories that they discover can link them to other noteworthy people and events. Very often unfortunately these things are eventually forgotten, but I have tried to make a brief note of my family’s interesting connections here in this section.

My Furniture
I began to make furniture in the mid 1980’s when I still worked in the house building industry. After a few years I was able to take up furniture making full time. I did then and still do only make commissions. I got work by exhibiting at craft fairs, including once at the Royal Highland Show and through recommendation, contented clients being the best way of ensuring continuity of work.
